Sewer Rats Defeat Bulldogs in Overtime

The Sewer Rats would attack the Bulldogs, pinning them in their own zone for much of the early portion of the game, going ahead when Chris Mazza went low from Eric Vogt, but their dynamic play would leave them underwhelmed when the Bulldogs immidiately responded with a pretty goal by Jonathan Greenspan from Anthony Ursino and Arthur Kharko. The Bulldogs would then quickly bite the Sewer Rats again, when Joe Muzikar hit the back of the net from Andy “The Ox” Viox when The Ox worked a fantastic give and go with his K-9 pal. But the Sewer Rats would level it on Evgeny “The Giant” Nikitin’s low one timer from Vogt, and it would go into the second period all square at 2-2.

Most of the second period would be scoreless, but the Sewer Rats would crack the Bulldogs first when JIm Biringer finished from Boris Raizberg on a highlight reel play, then the Rodents would go two up with Mazza from Mike Schumer and Vogt. But a late period goal by the K-9 Unit, Muzikar from Alidad “The Alligator” Mireskandari and Bill “Mondo” Mondano, would halve their deficit, with it now 4-3 Sewer Rats going into the third.

The third period would begin with The Giant scoring from Vogt, the second goal for Nikitin, the fourth assist for Vogt, but the Bulldogs, now down two, would pull that one back with a firecracker of a finish by Anthony Ursino with help from Steve Parry. Riding this momentum, the Bulldogs tied it when Greenspan was on the money from The Alligator, and it was now 5-5. Pressing for the goal to unbreak the deadlock with it now around halfway through the period, the Sewer Rats would do just that, with Vogt the man from Nikitin. But The Alligator would equalize unassisted, and it appeared that overtime would be needed to possibly determine a winner.

That overtime would come, and the Sewer Rats would take it in the extra period, when Vogt delivered the knockout blow to the Bulldogs for a 7-6 Sewer Rats overtime win in which they earned two points in the league table, while the Bulldogs’ overtime loss was good for a single point.
